Windows XP - Log in problem
Few of my friends cannot log in to my weblog because they are using Windows XP. I heard that you can download a console somewhere at sun microsystems. But what is the best solution to fix this problem. When visitors cannot log in they cannot give comments. Is there a way to make internet explorer download a special plugin so people can give contributions.
When you open a flash animation for the fist time, internet explorer goes looking for a flash player plug in. Is there a option to install it on antville, so when people have no java installed, it will look for a plugin to install, so they can log in and give comments.

think this has anything to do with XP. they need to have javascript and cookies activated in their browser, that should do the job..

Not meaning to offend you, but this sentence doesn't make any sense. What kind of console? A Java console? The Java console is just a little tool that is installed along with your Java SDK/runtime and allows you to do things you'll never ever need. If you want to execute Java code (applets, applications), you need a Java runtime. Some browsers might also need a plug-in so they can show applets.
Windows XP doesn't come with a Java runtime; however, it is possible (and very easy) to download one, one of the possible sources being Sun Microsystems. This installer is pretty much fool-proof and should also fit your IE with a plug-in.
You can also download Opera---they have a version with Java built in. And it's superior to IE in just about any relevant way.
However, as mutant already said, Antville doesn't use Java at all at the client side. And you most certainly don't need a "special plug-in". What exactly should that plug-in do anyway?

I'm sure you're wrong; I cannot think of any reason why XP should prevent you from logging into an Antville blog. Which blog is yours anyway?

(shame on me) and I don't have any problems. didn't install java runtime yet, so the problem is definitely something else.

Hi. I think the problem is not Windows XP, the problem is Internet Explorer and it's cookie-preferences. It only seems to be a problem of XP, 'cause the IE6.0 which comes with XP has very strikt cookie-preferences. Tell your friends to setup IE to accept Cookies from antville.org and it will work fine, I guess.
