basically you have two possibilities: either you directly change the file root/main.skin (currently there is no skin-editor for those skins), or (which would be the better solution, i think) you open up a new weblog and define this weblog as the frontpage weblog in the system preferences. then you can do whatever you have in mind directly in the skin-editor of the frontpage weblog. there are some macros you might find helpful, eg. <% storylist %>, <% story %>, <% sitelist %> etc.. for more have a look at http://macros.antville.org/
