List of stories instead of calendar
I agree with the point of view (read here), that there is a better way of browsing a weblogs story archive than the calendar. Thus i'd like to create a list of stories (title and date only) excluding comments sorted by date. monthly or yearly sections are fine, but a complete list would do as well. Though willing to sacrifice calendar and topic list, i couldn't find a way to realise anything close to this.

There's some code in the source that would allow you to achieve that, I believe. However, there's also a line saying
// this is db-heavy action available for trusted users only (yet?)noelscheich
Is it due to heavy db load, that this feature is disabled ?

This would do quite some of what I am trying to achieve.
However, as you mentioned the additional parameters to the storylist macro only work for "trusted sites" and my antville.org weblog does not seem to be one.
Furthermore, due to the fact that macros cannot be put inside macros (eg. ... itemprefix="<% ... %>") there would still be a problem giving the resulting 'storylist' a layout that displays e.g. creation date, topic or creator next to the title.
The solution to that could possibly be as easy as allowing the use of a custom skin in the storylist or maybe story.monthlist macros.
