Google Fluctuations
I''ve experienced some strange behaviour with Google today: If you enter either "etter det vi erfarer" or "kompetenzteam", sometimes the respective blogs appear at the first rank, sometimes they don't. Any idea how that comes? Several servers with diverging content? Magic?
(And, as a bonus question, if kris is listening: How did you get your weblog description into Google? Via open directory?)

but I experienced the same some weeks ago.

we didn't do anything to get etter det vi erfarer... up on rank one. It just came out of the blue after about a month being online. The sentence itself is pretty common on Norwegian news sites.

an antville site consists of two pages for each story (main and comment), a page for every day and some more. a month of an antville site with two or three posts a day can easily generate 200 pages. hence, you have 200 pages linking to your main page. if some other antville sites put a link your site into their main templates and if these sites have existed for a year or so you can easily have a couple of thousands pages pointing to your site.
i still have an extinct manila site with 3000 pages on dave winer's server. if i wanted to i could google bomb almost every keyword to number one. but this is not important because even when we were number one for "rezzo" and "schlauch" virtually nobody searched for one of these words or a combination thereof.
unfortunately i have no idea why kompetenzteam and your site are gone right now, but i reckon one of google's clusters is defunct.
finally, the description of our site is from dmoz. you can find the link to the person responsible on the bottom of the category page.

sometimes Google's spider jsut stops indexing for no apparent reason, e.g. it used to index my weblog almost daily during May and June and all of a sudden stopped completely.
But to quote from the above mentioned FAQ:
Q: Googlebot hit my main page that I submitted and then stopped? Is this normal?
A: Google spreads out its spider schedule as much as possible. It is not unusual for Google to work in seemingly bizarre ways. It will be back eventually to spider the whole site. Depending on the time of the month, Googlebot will go after the whole site, or slowly over the month [..]
it is also sometimes worth checking www2.google.com and www3.google.com which have a different set of updated pages.
