short note about the nightly outages
it appears that antville crashes while the nightly database backup is running. we currently don't know the exact reason why this happens, and the fact that it doesn't happen regularly doesn't make it easier, but it could have something to do with the java version used (which i'll update tonight). keep your fingers crossed, and sorry for the outages.

thumbs up! thx 4 all!

never mind short outages, thanx at all...
robert
well, i wouldn't call a down-time from 4:10 to 8 something "short" (even though we were all sleeping like babies), but since this didn't happen before, we have to find it out now. and we will.

and while we´re sleeping we are infallible.

update: for now the weblogs.com ping is disabled because of very slow responses from the weblogs.com server which caused increasing problems here at antville.org.

very spammy

I appreciate the fix as I live in Australia. I always assumed the server couldn't cope with the Antville 1.1. workload. I'm glad to know that wasn't the problem. Hopefully the upgrade will fix the latest java vunerability too, which seems particularly relevant to antville. Thanks again.

Maybe it is possible to ping to Ping-O-Matic?
http://pingomatic.com
They use also the Weblogs.com RPC-Interface
http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
and ping a lot of monitors (blo.gs etc.) simultanously.

der referrer-spam kommt allerdings in derselben sekunde wie das 'ping' draussen ist :(
